Unshoji Temple

  • Name: Unshoji temple
  • Location: Oga, Akita Prefecture.
  • Must-sea season: Rainy season (June-July)

This Buddhist temple in Kitaura, Oga, is called “the hydrangea temple.” The deputy chief priest, Shuun Konaka, has grown all those hydrangeas for over 15 years. The hydrangeas reach the peak bloom from middle June to early July annually. So if you are thinking about going, this is the perfect season to visit!
